MEPhI holds new round of "MEPhI Arctic" contest
March 2, 2017 – Students and staff of the National Nuclear Research University MEPhI presented their projects to the expert commission of the "MEPhI Arctic" contest, which they plan to design, test or develop in the Arctic as part of expeditions on the research vessel Kartesh.
The expert commission examined 11 projects submitted by students and employees of the university and regional branches.
The presented projects cover various fields of knowledge and research. Contestants demonstrated planned fundamental research related to cosmic radiation, methods of radiation monitoring of the state of marine ecosystems, curious solutions in the field of robotics and even displayed a prototype.
It is noteworthy that the works were also submitted by other universities, which may be a good bid for further cooperation in related fields.
The results of the contest stage will be announced after March 9. Some of the authors of the projects will reach the final stage, which will take place on May 25, 2017, at the MEPhI facilities.
The competition started at the end of last year. If victorious, the participants will be able to test their ideas in practice in the real conditions of the Arctic zone on board the research vessel Kartesh during the polar expedition in the waters of the Barents, White and Kara Seas.
