2016 Interdisciplinary Arctic Expedition finished

R/V Kartesh arrived in Murmansk on September 29 at 01 am. The 2016 expedition is successfully completed.

Kartesh covered a distance of more than 7000 nautical miles, from Murmansk via Chupa, Arkhangelsk, Naryan-Mar, Vaygach Island, Novaya Zemlya, the Yamal Peninsula, the Gulf of Ob and the Taz Estuary, the Baydaratskaya Bay and ended in Murmansk.

Researchers, scientists and photographers – all the expedition participants have carried out extensive work. The researchers managed to conduct various ornithology, marine biology and ecology studies; now they are to face a long and time-consuming stage of the obtained data processing and analysis.

 

The photographers have taken numerous pictures of areas, previously unexplored by the expedition, and installed seven exhibitions in hard-to-access areas of Cape Kartesh, the LMSU WSBS, Morzhovets Island, Shoyna, Kanin Nos, Mikulkin Nos, and Tobseda.
