Polar Expedition Gallery Participated in Russian Geography Society Panel Session
A complex expedition The Arctic Step by Step was presented in the Geography Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The expedition is planned to start June 2015. Polar Expedition Gallery creative director Yaroslav Amelin reported about basic purposes and objectives of the forthcoming cultural, educational and research expedition, shared the results of the last-year photographers’ work on board the R/V Kartesh in severe weather conditions.
Mikhail Tokarev, research supervisor for the LMSU Marine Research Center, reported about the objectives to be completed during upcoming expedition. The objectives include such Arctic research activities as continuous acoustic research of seabed, diving observations, water and soil sampling, ecosystems data monitoring, and water areas remote sensing.
The reports prompted a vigorous discussion among the audience; the listeners shared experiences of working in the extreme conditions of the Far North.
