Kartesh has spent more than a week in the White Sea. Story in pictures: the first storm and the challenge for the vessel and the crew, portraits and personalities of the crew and the expedition participants, oldest biostations at the White Sea and in Russia: WSBS Cape Kartesh and LMSU WSBS, sunrises and sunsets…
Yan Stelmakh, the irreplaceable captain of the R/V Kartesh, got on board the vessel on his 74th birthday.
Iakov, the bishop of Naryan-Mar and Mezen together with Father Roman, joined the expedition in Archangelsk, to conduct missionary work in the hard-to-access areas of the Bolshezemelskaya tundra, Vaygach Island and Novaya Zemlya – the northernmost eparchy of Russia.
Kartesh was refueled and resupplied in Archangelsk and is returning to the Barents Sea, heading north and east. Stay tuned!
