Tobseda
Late in the evening of July 2 the 2016 Kartesh Arctic Expedition reached a tiny settlement of Tobseda located on the Barents Sea shore.
Tobseda used to be a major fishing village, now inhabited by only two people; sometimes ornithologists and tourists visit them. The remains of the former life of the village are scattered around: houses, a barn where fishing nets were dried, wooden boats…
We talked with the local old-timer Vasily and fixed up a photography exhibition. Rich surroundings of the abandoned village captured us and made us stay for a while.
